After three hours, a few more bickers between us and some stalls along the way, we were finally pulling back onto the drive. I had the hang of it now, but it’s not something I would rush to do again.

I cut the engine, relaxing my shoulders and tipping my head back. I closed my eyes for a moment feeling mentally exhausted.

“You did well, Red,” Xavier complimented me. “You really did.” He reached over and took my hand in his, rubbing his thumb across the back of my knuckles.

“Gee, thanks,” I gushed sarcastically. “I would say it was the teacher, but I would be lying.”

“Ouch, you wounded me.” He slipped his hand out of mine and clutched at his pink shirt over his heart, pretending to be hurt by my truthful words.

“Better actor than you are teacher.” I sniggered before letting out a sigh and opening the car door, closing it behind me as I stalked towards the front door. I heard him getting closer, the sound of his Oxford shoes getting louder as he clicked over the gravel.

“Where you running off to?” he asked, slight concern lacing his husky voice.

“Indoors,” I answered him, slightly confused as to why he had asked me.

“I know that, but you’re running from me.” He took my hand in his and pulled me back towards him.

“Xavi, I’m not running. I am simply going into the house, I need a drink. I’m hot,” I admitted, my eyes flicking towards his.

“Okay,” he said with a sigh of relief, leaning down and planting a soft kiss on my forehead.

“Okay,” I muttered back, smiling at him as I held onto his hand, leading him into the house. I didn’t understand the feeling that kept creeping over me, the thought of him thinking I would leave him. I could feel the anxiety penetrating through him. I didn’t know what I could do to make him see that I’m not going anywhere. Not now. Not ever. I hadn’t said the words out loud, but I was infatuated with him. My soul had completely and utterly fallen in love with him.
